Pedestrian Accidents in Hawaii

Pedestrian fatalities remain a tragic reality on Hawai‘i’s roads. Too often, drivers speed through crosswalks, ignore right-of-way rules, or glance at a phone instead of the traffic ahead. Across the country, distracted driving—including texting behind the wheel—contributes to millions of crashes each year, and more than 7,000 pedestrians lost their lives nationwide over the past 12 months.

With no protective barrier, pedestrians are highly susceptible to catastrophic injuries such as traumatic brain damage, spinal trauma, and internal organ harm. For families, an unexpected loss brings staggering medical bills, funeral costs, lost income, and profound grief.

Hawai‘i law allows injured pedestrians and surviving relatives to seek compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and wrongful-death damages. Swift legal action is critical: dash-cam footage, eyewitness accounts, and cell-phone records can disappear quickly after a crash. An attorney can step in immediately to preserve evidence, navigate insurance negotiations, and build a strong case on your behalf.
