Honolulu, HI – Woman Dies in Two-Car Collision on Kahuapaani St

July 4, 2025

Honolulu, HI (July 4, 2025) – A two-car collision on Friday morning in the Halawa area, where a man ran a red light, led to the death of a woman.

The collision took place at about 10:57 a.m. on July 4 at the intersection of Kahuapaani Street and Mananai Place. The Honolulu Police Department reported that a 40-year-old man was driving northbound on Kahuapaani Street with a 34-year-old man. As he attempted to turn left onto Mananai Place, he disregarded a red traffic signal.

During the turn, his car was broadsided by a 22-year-old woman who was traveling southbound on Kahuapaani Street with a 25-year-old woman. The collision resulted in multiple injuries: the 25-year-old woman was in critical condition, and the 22-year-old woman and 40-year-old man were in good condition when they were transported to the hospital.

The 25-year-old woman was later pronounced dead from the injuries she sustained. The 34-year-old man, who was a passenger, refused medical treatment at the scene. Police are also investigating whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, though no additional details were released.

Our deepest condolences are extended to the family members of the deceased victim.

Fatal Car Accidents in Hawaii

The state of Hawaii reports approximately 10,000 accidents that result in significant injuries annually, and the state has an estimated one million registered vehicles. In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of traffic-related fatalities, which is a disheartening reality. The authorities will thoroughly investigate the causes of these individual accidents. However, it is common to observe that the most grievous car accidents in Hawaii are the consequence of negligent driving.

Regrettably, statistics suggest that motorist negligence contributes to the increasing frequency of vehicle collisions in the United States. Speeding, driver preoccupation, driver fatigue, and intoxicated driving are the four basic causes of driver negligence in Hawaii and throughout the United States. Negligent drivers are responsible for nine out of every ten automobile accidents that occur in the United States. These circumstances suggest that a negligent driver was the likely cause of your accident.

In a matter of seconds, the consequences of significant collisions on innocent victims can occur. If you or a family member has been impacted by a severe car accident in Hawaii, it is imperative to retain a legal representative who is both competent and experienced.
