Honolulu, HI – Several Injured in Crash at S Beretania St

October 5, 2025

Honolulu, HI (October 5, 2025)  A violent crash on Sunday morning, October 5, left at least one person with catastrophic injuries on South Beretania Street in Honolulu. The collision happened around 9:40 a.m. near the busy downtown area, according to the Honolulu Police Department.

Witnesses said two vehicles slammed into each other with tremendous force, crushing the front end of one car and trapping its driver inside. Passersby rushed to help but could not free the injured person.

Firefighters arrived quickly with hydraulic tools and cut through the wreckage to reach the victims. Paramedics treated those injured at the scene before rushing them to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.

Officers remained on South Beretania Street for several hours, blocking off the crash site and collecting crucial evidence. They photographed the scene, interviewed witnesses, and examined debris to determine what caused the wreck. Investigators have not yet released information on whether speeding, distraction, or other dangerous driving behaviors played a role. The investigation is ongoing.

Our hearts go out to the injured victims and their loved ones during this difficult time. We wish them a full and swift recovery.

Car Accidents in Hawaii

Car accidents in Hawaii remain one of the most serious threats to public safety, especially in busy areas of Honolulu. Busy streets like South Beretania Street see heavy traffic throughout the day, increasing the chances of devastating collisions like the one on Sunday morning.

Several factors continue to cause serious crashes across Hawaii. Distracted driving, including texting or looking at in-car screens, remains one of the biggest threats.

Speeding and reckless lane changes make busy intersections even more dangerous. Impaired driving involving alcohol or drugs often leads to severe crashes. Rain and nighttime conditions further reduce visibility and slow reaction times.

When these crashes happen, the injuries are often catastrophic. Victims face brain trauma, spinal cord injuries, broken bones, and severe internal damage.

Many require emergency surgeries, long hospital stays, and months of rehabilitation just to regain mobility. Families suddenly find themselves managing not only urgent medical needs but also the overwhelming financial and emotional impact that follows.

Many victims cannot work while recovering, leaving households without a reliable income at the exact time when expenses are highest. Loved ones frequently step in to help, but both the emotional and financial pressure can be overwhelming.

Insurance companies often act quickly after a crash, but their first offers rarely cover the full cost of recovery. Early settlements may pay for initial hospital visits but often fail to account for future surgeries, long-term therapy, or months without income. Accepting too soon can leave families struggling financially for years.

That is why working with a trusted Honolulu car accident lawyer is critical. An attorney investigates the crash thoroughly, gathers evidence, and negotiates directly with insurance companies.
