Honolulu, HI – One Dead, Several Hurt in Rollover Crash on Renton Rd
July 12, 2025
Honolulu, HI (July 12, 2025) – The Honolulu Police Department said speed is a possible factor in a deadly rollover crash in Ewa Beach Saturday morning that injured several others.
Officials said the two-vehicle crash occurred on July 12, near the intersection of Renton and Fort Weaver Roads, at around 5:40 a.m.
According to police, a 37-year-old man and his passengers, an 18-year-old man and a juvenile boy, were traveling northbound on Fort Weaver Road at a high rate of speed and crashed into a vehicle driven by a 72-year-old man.
HPD said the crash sent the vehicle driven by a 37-year-old man airborne and rolling over, which ejected the driver onto the grassy median. Honolulu Emergency Medical Services pronounced him dead at the scene. His passengers suffered serious injuries and were taken to the hospital.
EMS took the 72-year-old driver to the hospital in critical condition. However, no further details have been released at this time, and the incident remains under investigation.
We extend our condolences to the deceased victim’s loved ones. Our thoughts are also with the injured victims in hopes of their full recovery.
Major Car Accidents in Hawaii
Tragic consequences can result from multi-vehicle collisions in Hawaii, especially when victims sustain injuries or pass away. Thousands of people in Hawaii suffer terrible mental and bodily trauma each year as a result of these incidents. Adding insult to injury, negligent drivers are a common cause of injuries sustained by motorists on our roadways. Disregarding the safety of other drivers on the road increases the likelihood that these collisions will occur, endangering the lives of other drivers. Whether it’s due to speeding, drunk driving, texting, or some other infraction, these careless drivers put innocent motorists at risk daily.
What’s more, it is often quite difficult to get back on your feet after suffering injuries in a vehicle accident, given the physical and emotional stress during the aftermath. Traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and other serious injuries often necessitate long periods of recovery and taxing medical treatment. Of course, victims and their loved ones frequently find it difficult to pick up the pieces after suffering injuries, especially after a family member dies.
For example, in one recent year, over 11,000 people were killed due to auto accidents caused by speeding. Speeding is one of the most dangerous types of driver negligence because it leaves drivers no time to stop in case of an accident and increases the dangers and risk of catastrophic injuries in the case of a crash.
