Honolulu, HI – Moped Rider Sustains Major Injuries in Crash on Kam Hwy

Honolulu, HI (August 3, 2025) – According to officers with the Honolulu Police Department, a man is in critical condition after a crash involving a moped and a bus on Sunday, August 3.

The crash happened at around 2:45 p.m. on Kamehameha Highway near Kualoa Regional Park. The Honolulu Emergency Medical Service said a moped rider in his 20s suffered extensive life-threatening injuries, including a head injury. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Officials closed both directions of Kamehameha Highway for about two hours and asked the public to avoid the area. Officials reopened the road shortly before 5:10 p.m. However, witnesses were asked to get in touch with the HPD, and an investigation is ongoing in the interim.
