Joan studied glassblowing during her undergrad, earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa before going on to receive her Juris Doctor from the William S. Richardson School of Law. During law school, she developed a strong interest in courtroom advocacy and began her career clerking for Judge Kawano on Maui. She then served as a Deputy Public Defender on Maui, Molokai, and Lanai, and was committed to protecting the rights of the people of her community.
Outside the office, she continues to make art and enjoys spending time with her friends and family on Oahu and Maui. Joan is proud to be a part of the Leavitt, Yamane & Soldner team.
