Nanakuli, HI – Motorcyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run on Farrington Hwy & Helelua St

October 23, 2025

Nanakuli, HI (October 23, 2025) – A tragic hit-and-run crash claimed the life of a 38-year-old electric motorcyclist on Monday night, October 20, in Nanakuli. The collision occurred around 10:05 p.m. near the intersection of Farrington Highway and Helelua Street, according to the Honolulu Police Department.

Investigators said the motorcyclist was heading west on Farrington Highway when a driver traveling east made a sudden left turn onto Helelua Street. The car struck the rider with significant force, throwing him onto the roadway. Witnesses said the crash was violent, scattering debris across both lanes.

Instead of stopping to help, the driver continued north on Helelua Street, leaving the man critically injured on the ground. Several bystanders rushed to help and stayed with the victim until emergency crews arrived. Paramedics provided urgent medical care at the scene before rushing him to The Queen’s Medical Center West Oahu. Despite their efforts, he later died from his injuries.

Officers found the suspected vehicle abandoned and unoccupied nearby. Detectives are still working to identify and locate the driver. Authorities have not yet determined whether speed, alcohol, or drugs played a role in the crash.

The Honolulu Police Department is leading the investigation and will provide more details as they become available.

We extend our deepest condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones during this heartbreaking time.
