Maui, HI – Three Killed in Head-on Crash on Honoapiilani Hwy near Kikowaena Rd

Maui, HI (August 2, 2023) – A fatal accident happened in Maui in the early morning hours of August 2. Sometime between three and four a.m, emergency responders were dispatched to the scene of the collision on the Honoapiilani Highway. 

Responders including EMTs, police, and fire crews were seen rendering aid at the crash site on the Highway near Kikowaena Road. At least two vehicles were involved in a head-on accident that happened for reasons still under police investigation. Authorities believe speed may have been a factor in the cause of the deadly incident.

According to local sources, three individuals lost their lives in this auto collision in Maui. They were identified as a 22-year-old from Kīhei, a 75-year-old woman from Lahaina, and an 81-year-old man. 

Traffic in the area was directed around the crash scene past the Lahaina Police Station. Police in Maui continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
