Pedestrian Accidents in Hawaii

Across Hawaii, the popularity of electric scooters has grown rapidly, providing a convenient and eco-friendly way to get around. Unfortunately, this increase in scooter use has also led to a rise in serious accidents. Riders and pedestrians on or near scooters are particularly vulnerable when drivers fail to pay attention or follow traffic laws. Distracted driving—especially texting behind the wheel—continues to be a leading cause of preventable injuries and deaths on our roads.

Nationally, thousands of pedestrians and micromobility users, including scooter riders, are injured or killed in traffic accidents each year. Many of these incidents are caused by careless or reckless drivers who disregard crosswalks, fail to yield, or make unsafe turns. Because scooter riders lack the physical protection that car occupants have, they are far more likely to suffer catastrophic injuries in a crash, such as head trauma, spinal damage, and internal injuries.

These injuries can be life-changing, and in the most tragic cases, fatal. In Hawaii, families are left grieving and searching for answers when a loved one is struck while riding a scooter or walking nearby. The emotional and financial toll can be overwhelming, especially when the accident was entirely preventable.

If you or someone you love has been seriously injured—or if you’ve lost a family member in a fatal scooter crash—you may have the right to pursue legal action against the at-fault party.
