Kaneohe, HI – Two Injuries Follow Collision on H-3 Fwy

December 27, 2025

Kaneohe, HI (December 27, 2025) – Two men sustained serious injuries in a crash on Friday evening, December 26, in Kaneohe. The collision occurred around 6:00 p.m. in the Kaneohe-bound lanes of the H-3 Freeway before the Likelike offramp, according to the Honolulu Police Department.

Emergency Medical Services arrived within minutes and treated both men, ages 57 and 58, for traumatic injuries. Paramedics then rushed them to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Officials confirmed they were in the same vehicle, while no one in the other vehicle suffered injuries.

Investigators examined the vehicles, documented evidence, and interviewed witnesses to determine what caused the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.

We wish both victims a full and steady recovery.

Car Accidents in Hawaii

Car accidents happen frequently across Hawaii, especially on busy roads like the H-3 Freeway. Each year, thousands of crashes leave residents with serious injuries and lasting hardships. Heavy traffic and limited space make this highway especially prone to dangerous collisions when drivers lose focus, even for a moment.

Car accidents in Hawaii often happen when drivers lose focus or fail to follow traffic laws. Distraction, fatigue, and risky lane changes can quickly turn a routine drive into a serious crash. Poor visibility and sudden stops also raise the risk of collisions on busy highways.

When these crashes occur, victims often suffer severe injuries that require long-term care and rehabilitation. Common injuries include:

  • Head and Brain Injuries: Sudden impact can cause concussions or traumatic brain injuries that affect memory, coordination, and focus.
  • Spinal Cord Injuries: Damage to the back or neck may result in chronic pain or paralysis.
  • Broken Bones: High-impact collisions frequently lead to fractures in the arms, legs, ribs, or pelvis.
  • Internal Injuries: Internal bleeding and organ damage may occur even when external wounds seem minor.
  • Emotional Trauma: Many victims experience anxiety, sleeplessness, or fear of driving again after a crash.

Serious car accident injuries can change every part of a victim’s life. Many people face months of pain, surgeries, and physical therapy before they can return to normal activities. The stress of medical bills, lost work, and emotional trauma often makes recovery even harder.

Hawaii’s no-fault system provides Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage for immediate medical costs. However, when injuries are severe and meet the state’s legal threshold, victims can file claims against the at-fault driver. This allows them to seek compensation for pain and suffering, lost income, and long-term care needs beyond what PIP covers.

Unfortunately, insurance companies often offer settlements that do not fully cover these losses. Working with an experienced Honolulu car accident lawyer helps ensure victims receive the maximum compensation allowed by law.
