Our thoughts are extended to the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery.

Serious Auto Accidents in Hawaii

T-bone collisions, also known as side-impact crashes, are among the most dangerous types of car accidents. These crashes occur when the front of one vehicle strikes the side of another, forming a “T” shape. In Hawaii, T-bone collisions frequently result in severe injuries, extensive property damage, and complicated questions of fault. Understanding how these accidents happen and what steps to take after one can help protect your rights and recovery options.

T-bone crashes commonly occur at intersections where one driver fails to yield, ignores a traffic signal, or misjudges another vehicle’s speed. Distracted driving, impaired driving, and speeding are all contributing factors. Additionally, inadequate signage or malfunctioning traffic lights can create hazardous conditions that increase the risk of a side-impact collision. Because the sides of most vehicles offer less protection than the front or rear, the injuries from these crashes can be devastating, especially to occupants on the struck side of the car.

Determining liability in a T-bone accident can be challenging. Often, both drivers may claim they had the right of way. In other cases, third parties may be responsible, such as a municipality that failed to maintain safe traffic signals or road markings. Depending on the circumstances, it may also be necessary to investigate whether a vehicle’s safety features, like side-impact airbags or structural integrity, contributed to the severity of the injuries.

A thorough investigation is critical after a T-bone collision. Key evidence may include police reports, intersection surveillance footage, eyewitness statements, and data from onboard vehicle systems. Accident reconstruction can help clarify which vehicle had the right-of-way, while maintenance records and road design evaluations may reveal other contributing factors.
