Pedestrian Accidents in Honolulu
Honolulu’s busy streets make it one of the most dangerous places for pedestrians in Hawaii. Every year, dozens of people are hit while walking, often at crosswalks, intersections, or along heavily traveled roads like Ala Moana Boulevard, King Street, and Kapiolani Boulevard. With heavy traffic, distracted drivers, and limited pedestrian visibility at night, the risk of a serious pedestrian accident is always present.
Most pedestrian accidents happen because of preventable driver behavior. Speeding through crosswalks, running red lights, failing to yield, or texting behind the wheel can all lead to devastating crashes. Impaired driving from alcohol or drugs only increases the danger. For pedestrians, even a low-speed collision can cause catastrophic injuries because they have no protection against the impact of a vehicle.
Victims of pedestrian accidents often suffer traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord damage, broken bones, or internal injuries. These injuries may require emergency surgeries, months of rehabilitation, and long-term care. For many families, the financial burden of hospital bills, lost income, and ongoing medical needs can feel overwhelming.
If you or a loved one was hit by a car while walking in Honolulu, you may be able to pursue a personal injury claim. A claim can cover medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and future care needs. In tragic cases where a pedestrian accident results in death, families may also pursue a wrongful death claim to seek justice and financial support.
Insurance companies often try to minimize payouts or shift blame onto the pedestrian. Without strong legal representation, many victims end up settling for far less than they deserve. That’s why working with a Honolulu pedestrian accident lawyer is important.
A skilled attorney can investigate the accident, gather evidence, and negotiate with insurance companies to ensure your rights are protected.
