Honolulu, HI – At Least One Injured in Crash on Fort Weaver Rd

August 21, 2025

Honolulu, HI (August 21, 2025) – At least one person was injured in a traffic collision on Wednesday evening, August 20.

The crash occurred around 5:31 p.m. on Fort Weaver Road near the intersection with Laula Road. Witnesses reported a large response from emergency crews. Paramedics treated at least one individual for injuries at the scene, though the total number of people hurt has not yet been confirmed.

Officials closed several lanes of Fort Weaver Road as first responders worked to assist victims and remove vehicles and debris. The crash caused major delays, with traffic backing up in both directions for more than an hour.

The Honolulu Police Department is leading the investigation, with speed, distraction, and driver negligence all being considered as possible contributing factors.

Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information to come forward.

Our thoughts are with those affected by this crash. We wish them a speedy recovery.

Car Accidents in Hawaii

Car accidents are a daily threat on Hawaii’s roads, and too often, they leave behind devastating injuries and lasting consequences. Whether on major highways or residential streets like Fort Weaver Road, crashes can lead to physical trauma, emotional stress, and significant financial hardship for victims and their families.

Many crashes in Hawaii are the result of preventable driver behaviors, including:

  • Driving Under the Influence: Drivers impaired by alcohol or drugs pose a major danger on the road. Their slower reaction times, poor judgment, and lack of control make collisions far more likely and more severe.
  • Distracted Driving: Whether texting, eating, adjusting navigation, or talking with passengers, distractions pull drivers’ attention from the road. Just a few seconds of inattention can change lives forever.
  • Reckless Driving: Speeding, tailgating, weaving through traffic, and ignoring traffic signals increase the risk of high-impact collisions, especially during rush hour or in dense traffic areas.

When drivers engage in these risky behaviors, they endanger everyone around them, often leaving innocent people to deal with the consequences.

Even at moderate speeds, a collision can result in serious injuries such as broken bones, head trauma, spinal damage, or internal injuries, all of which may require extended treatment and rehabilitation. Alongside physical recovery, victims may also face lost income, expensive medical bills, and anxiety about the future.

If someone else’s negligence caused your accident, you are entitled to compensation. A personal injury claim can cover medical bills, lost income, pain and suffering, property damage, and more.
