Wailuku, HI (August 01, 2022) – Maui police reported that a man riding a motorcycle was killed during a head-on collision on the morning of Sunday, July 31st in Wailuku.

According to sources, a moped was driving northbound on Kahekili Highway when the driver veered over the center line and crashed head-first into a southbound Harley Davidson.

After the crash, both drivers were thrown into the roadway.

Officials said the 68-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene.

The 40-year-old woman driving the moped was taken by ambulance to the Maui Memorial Medical Center with serious injuries.

Neither alcohol, drugs nor speed have been ruled out as factors.

This is Maui County’s 14th traffic-related death, as opposed to 10 at this time in 2021.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.

Motorcycle Accidents in Hawaii

Wailuku, HI - Motorcyclist Killed in Head-On Crash With Moped Rider on Kahekili Hwy

If you were injured or lost a family member in a Hawaii motorcycle accident, you might be qualified to collect damages that can cover your medical costs, lost income from being unable to work, and other losses.

The NHTSA’s Share the Road program was created for the sole purpose of raising awareness of the safety of motorcyclists. Regrettably, motorcycle crashes still happen, and most riders find themselves critically injured in the aftermath.

Only 3% of all registered vehicles in Hawaii are motorcycles, but these vehicles are involved in close to 15% of all deadly traffic accidents. Motorcycle crashes are typically very serious because not only are riders fully exposed to the ground and other vehicles, but they have absolutely no safety protections for their riders.

While you are healing from your injuries, the last thing you need to be worried about is insurance claims, aggravating paperwork, and complex legal proceedings. Our motorcycle injury attorneys in Honolulu have been assisting motorcycle accident victims in Hawaii for over six decades.
