Two Injured in House Fire on Kahualei Pl in Waipahu, HI

September 4, 2026

Waipahu, HI (September 4, 2026) – Two people were injured after a fire tore through a single-story home on Kahualei Place Tuesday night, September 1.

The Honolulu Fire Department and emergency units were sent to the home shortly after 10 p.m. and could see smoke and flames from a distance while en route. The home was fully engulfed by the time they arrived.

Emergency units searched the home and confirmed no one remained inside. The fire was brought under control by 10:41 p.m. and fully extinguished by 11:22 p.m.

A neighboring home also had light fire damage. Two people were treated and taken for medical care, and all emergency personnel were accounted for and uninjured.

The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation, and the extent of the damage has not yet been determined. The American Red Cross was notified to assist residents displaced by the fire.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the fire, especially those who were hurt.

How Liability Is Determined After a House Fire in Waipahu, HI

Fires in residential neighborhoods can have several possible causes, which can range from faulty wiring to a defective appliance or a cooking mishap.

People who experience burns, smoke inhalation, or respiratory injuries in a home fire usually require extended hospital care. Beyond physical harm, displaced residents may also face the loss of personal belongings and temporary housing costs while their home is repaired or rebuilt.

If an investigation later shows that a landlord failed to maintain wiring or safety equipment, or that a product defect caused the fire, the affected residents may have grounds for a legal claim. A Waipahu personal injury lawyer can help review inspection records, product information, and insurance policies to determine what options may be available.
