Pukalani, HI (July 28, 2022) – Maui police are looking for the driver involved in a hit-and-run collision on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 26th in Pukalani.

According to officials, a sedan was traveling northbound along Old Haleakala Highway when it swerved into oncoming traffic after failing to stop at an intersection and crashed into a pick-up truck.

The driver of the sedan fled the scene on foot.

The driver of the pick-up truck was transported by paramedics to an area hospital with unspecified injuries.

An SUV was heavily damaged by debris from the impact but the driver was unharmed.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Car Accidents in Hawaii

Pukalani, HI - One Injured in Hit-and-Run on Old Haleakalā Hwy, Police Seeking Driver

Some motor vehicle collisions are caused by a single outside influence over which no driver has any control. It is far more common, however, for auto collisions to be the result of several different factors that come together to create a single, dangerous event.

Although it is true that, once in a great while, no one is to blame, an overwhelming number of serious car accidents are caused by negligent actions on the part of one or both drivers.

When someone behind the wheel of an object that has the power to kill is careless, irresponsible, or distracted for even a second, the chances of them killing an innocent victim or leaving a victim with critical injuries are quite high.

Multiple types of negligence put thousands of innocent people in harm’s way each and every day, including joggers, bicyclists, pedestrians, children, and even other motorists and their passengers.

Our Hawaii personal injury lawyers have ample experience in dealing with these types of cases and are prepared to guide you and your family through the legal process.
