Oahu, HI – Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Kapolei Pkwy at Kunehi St

Oahu, HI (July 11, 2024) – On Tuesday, a traffic fatality was reported in the area of Kapolei Parkway and Kunehi Street just before 9:00 p.m., and upon arrival, officers found that a 53-year-old male driver struck a 66-year-old male pedestrian.

The incident caused the complete closure of westbound Kapolei Parkway between Kunehi Street and Fort Barrette Road around 9:20 p.m. while officials investigated. Honolulu police said the male pedestrian was crossing Kapolei Parkway when the motorist struck him. EMS officials transported the pedestrian to an area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. No further details have been provided, though an investigation is still ongoing.
