Maui, HI – Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on S Kihei Rd

Maui, HI (February 6, 2025) – On Tuesday, February 4, at approximately 8:35 p.m., a motor vehicle collision occurred on South Kihei Road, north of Kauhaa Street in Kihei.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a pedestrian was walking north within the northbound lane of South Kihei Road. At the same time, an unknown vehicle, possibly a silver or grey Toyota pick-up truck, was also traveling north in the northbound lane and struck the pedestrian. The unknown vehicle fled the scene northbound on South Kihei Road without stopping to render aid.

As a result of this collision, the pedestrian, a 48-year-old Kihei male, sustained fatal injuries and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The victim’s identity is currently being withheld pending next of kin notification. However, no further details have been released at this time, and the incident remains under investigation.
