Maui, HI – Multi-Vehicle Wreck w/Injuries at Pi’ikea Ave & Manino Cir

December 11, 2023

Maui, HI (December 11, 2023) – Authorities were requested at the scene of a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Monday, December 11, and ended in injuries.

At around 6:20 p.m. on Monday, the Maui Police Department, firefighters, and emergency medical services were called to help at the scene of a crash that took place in the area of Pi’ikea Avenue and Manino Circle in Kihei. Authorities say airbags deployed in both vehicles involved and that the MPD/Engine 6 and medics were on the scene.

Emergency medical services responded to care for injured victims, and an unknown number of people were transported to local hospitals for further medical care. However, investigations surrounding the crash are still underway.

We extend our thoughts to the injured victims and their families.

Car Accidents in Hawaii

Automobile accidents occur frequently in Hawaii. Regrettably, these accidents are often a result of negligent and reckless drivers. One significant factor is distracted driving, which includes activities like texting, talking on the phone, or even eating while behind the wheel.

Another common cause of automobile accidents is speeding. This is often fueled by a desire to reach popular tourist destinations quickly. The unique geography and weather conditions in Hawaii also contribute to accidents, such as narrow roads with sharp turns, which can catch unfamiliar drivers off guard, especially during rainy conditions when roads become slippery.

Unfortunately, being in a motor vehicle accident can result in severe injuries for those involved. We often see injured parties left with broken bones, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and even concussions as a result of collisions. Dealing with these and other painful injuries in the aftermath of an automobile accident can be quite difficult.
