Maui, HI – Multi-Vehicle Crash, Injuries on Haleakala Hwy at MM 1

November 14, 2024

Maui, HI (November 14, 2024) – Local officers are investigating following a car crash that occurred in the Maui area on Thursday afternoon, November 14.

According to reports provided by the Maui Police Department (MPD), a collision between two vehicles, including a truck and an SUV, took place on the Haleakala Highway at mile marker 1. The incident prompted authorities to close down the roadway after vehicles were blocking most lanes in the area before calling in EMTs and Engine 5 from the Maui Fire Department to assess the victims’ injuries.

At this time, however, the incident is still being investigated, and it’s unclear how many people were ultimately hurt in the incident. Witnesses were asked to get in touch with the MPD in the meantime.

Our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their families at this time.

Truck Accidents in Maui

Despite the significant advancements in advanced safety systems and new car technologies in the 21st century, traffic accidents on Maui County roads continue to result in the loss of many lives. Regrettably, a significant number of road users perished at the scene last year.

There is no indication that the number of traffic accidents will decrease in the near future. Maui Memorial Medical Center is visited by numerous vehicles on a daily basis. Some of them sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of automobile accidents.

An individual who has been involved in an accident has likely encountered challenges managing documentation in the absence of a legal team. It involves a variety of entities, including car insurers, claims adjusters, physicians, and individuals who were involved in the accident. This is the point at which Maui traffic accident attorneys become involved.

Proving these kinds of cases demands an experienced and knowledgeable car accident lawyer in Maui who understands Hawaii’s car insurance laws to find other sources of reimbursement, like uninsured motorist coverage in cases involving a driver with no insurance or underinsurance motorist coverage in cases involving drivers with inadequate coverage.

Like other no-fault insurance states, Hawaii also sets a tort threshold for suing the negligent driver in a traffic accident. In Hawaii, you may only file a personal injury suit if you suffered medical expenses and other related damages totaling $5,000 or more or you sustained severe or permanent injuries like the loss of a bodily function, loss of a body part, or disfigurement.
