Maui, HI (June 8, 2024) – Officers with the Maui Police Department were requested to assist at the scene of a motor vehicle accident and possible head-on collision on Friday evening, June 7, which resulted in a handful of serious victim injuries.

Dispatchers reportedly fielded calls for help at around 11:30 p.m. local time. According to local law enforcement, a collision between two passenger vehicles occurred on Hana Highway, near Paia Bay Beach Park in Paia. MPD officers said the incident may have been caused by one of the vehicles crossing the roadway’s center line. Engine 2 fire rescue units and medical personnel responded to care for the injured victims, but their current conditions are unclear. The crash is currently being investigated.
