Kauai, HI – Motorcyclist Hospitalized After Hit-and-Run on Mamalahoa Hwy

Kauai, HI (December 29, 2023) – Hawaii County officers apprehended the driver of a 2006 Nissan Murano SUV that fled the scene of a collision on Saturday, causing serious injuries to a 59-year-old man from Ocean View.

The victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Kauai after his motorcycle was involved in the wreck at the intersection of Mamalahoa Highway and Aloha Boulevard just before 10:15 p.m. At 10:40 a.m. on Monday, the motorist was taken into custody on suspicion of failing to render aid/accident involving injury or fatality, driving without a valid driver’s license, and operating a vehicle without insurance, according to the police. The victim was transported from the Kona Community Hospital to the Queens Medical Center on Oahu, where he is currently listed as critical. The police continue their investigation.
