Kauai, HI – Kailon Tyndzik in Critical Condition After Hit-and-Run on Nawiliwili Rd
February 16, 2025
Kauai, HI (February 16, 2025) – A former Honolulu Ocean Safety lifeguard was airlifted to Oahu after being involved in a hit-and-run on Kauai earlier this week.
Kailon Tyndzik was skateboarding home on Nawiliwili Road when he was hit by a car and left for dead on the side of the road on Thursday. After the crash, he was flown to Queen’s with multiple skull fractures, brain swelling, and internal bleeding.
Twenty-four hours after the hit and run, Kauai Police said they located the vehicle believed to be involved in the incident and arrested a 54-year-old man for negligent injury, leaving the scene of a collision, driving without a license, reckless driving, and inattention. However, no further details have been released at this time, and the incident remains under investigation.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their family members.
Pedestrian Collisions in Hawaii
Across the state of Hawaii, we see a significant number of individuals lose their lives as a result of motor vehicle accidents. Regrettably, these accidents are typically a result of drivers who fail to follow traffic laws. When it comes to drivers being distracted, texting and driving is becoming a severe problem in the United States, causing millions of accidents and injuries per year. Over the last year, over 7,000 pedestrians lost their lives in car accidents across the country. Careless drivers caused the majority of these collisions.
What’s more, pedestrians are more likely to suffer severe and fatal injuries and accidents because they do not have protection during accidents. As a result, they suffer significant trauma to the head, internal organ injuries, and other injuries that can ultimately take their lives. The sudden and unexpected loss of a loved one due to a fatal collision can be incredibly difficult to deal with. Unfortunately, we see countless accidents take place right here in Hawaii, leaving families to deal with overwhelming consequences.
If you have been injured in such a collision or lost a loved one due to a fatal pedestrian crash, your family can take legal action against the responsible party. You must seek representation from a Hawaii pedestrian accident lawyer right away. An attorney can help your family protect your rights and get justice while holding the negligent party to account.
