Kapolei, HI – One Critically Injured on Two-Car Accident on H-1 Fwy
November 1, 2022
Kapolei, HI (November 1, 2022) – A 43-year-old male sustained critical injuries in a two-car accident on the H-1 Freeway in Kapolei on Monday, October 31. Police in Honolulu stated that a green Ford F-350 utility truck operated by a 56-year-old man was headed west on the freeway when a white Toyota pickup truck rear-ended the Ford.
The wreck happened on the H-1 Freeway just before the Kalaeloa Boulevard offramp at approximately 4:00 p.m. The wreck prompted the closure of the freeway’s westbound lanes after one of the drivers was pinned underneath their vehicle and in need of extrication.
The Honolulu Fire Department and other responders were seen helping at the scene. The other driver managed to leave his vehicle on his own. Police stated that the driver of the Toyota was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
The names of the individuals involved in the accident have not been released at this time. Authorities are working to determine the cause of the accident.
We hope for the full recovery of the injured victim.
Hawaii Car Crashes
Car accidents are listed as one of the top ten reasons serious injuries and fatalities occur throughout the United States. Over 6 million auto accidents are reported in the United States each year. These accidents injure about 3 million people per year. In Hawaii, almost 30 serious accidents happen per day, and about 10,000 happen per year.
Alarmingly, the majority of these wrecks are caused by the actions of negligent drivers. Thousands of drivers choose to pay attention to their phones, drink alcohol, do drugs, or drive while extremely tired or speeding, which leads to millions of injuries per year and tens of thousands of fatalities. When someone sustains injuries or loses their life due to the negligent actions of another driver, they and/or their family members may qualify for financial compensation to help pay for the costs that stem from their accident and injuries.
You may be suffering in more ways than one after you or someone you love has been seriously hurt in a car crash. Not only may your injuries cause you significant pain, but you may be worried about their financial aspect, as hospitalization for a severe injury can cost tens of thousands of dollars. Facing all of this at once can be stressful and overwhelming.
Depending on the cause of your crash, you may be eligible to collect financial compensation that can help you financially recover from the damages you may be facing due to the incident. A personal injury lawyer in Hawaii can help you file a personal injury claim for compensation so you can get back on your feet.
If a negligent driver caused your injuries, they need to be held accountable for their choices so they are less likely to put someone else at risk in the future.
