Pedestrian Injuries in Hawaii

Kapaa, HI - Two Hospitalized Following Crash on Kuhio Hwy

Although pedestrian accidents happen for various reasons, an overwhelming majority of them are caused by irresponsible drivers.

Some common examples of the kinds of negligence that result in pedestrian accidents include:

  • Driver distraction, such as texting and making phone calls
  • Driving under the influence
  • Reckless driving
  • Inadequately maintained vehicles
  • Poorly designed intersections and roadways

These negligent driver behaviors put countless people in danger, especially cyclists, and pedestrians. When the person in control of a potentially deadly vehicle is careless or inattentive for even a split second, the chances of them taking a life or leaving a victim seriously injured are extremely high.

An experienced pedestrian accident attorney in Hawaii will be able to effectively identify all forms of negligence that contributed to your injuries.

Not only are accident victims forced to cope with daily pain and suffering, but they also face rapidly accumulating medical bills while being unable to work. If you were hurt due to the carelessness of a driver, you are most likely entitled to pursue a personal injury case against the person responsible.

It is essential to remember that if you, as a pedestrian, have even a small portion of the fault for your accident attributed to you, the driver that hit you may only be required to compensate you for some of your medical expenses.

Even if you share none of the fault, the driver’s insurance carrier will normally compensate nothing but your medical costs. This means that none of the additional expenses stemming from your accident, like missed income, diminished earning capacity, and pain and suffering will be covered. This is just one of the many reasons why we strongly urge you to seek the aggressive legal representation of a personal injury attorney from Leavitt, Yamane & Soldner.
