Car Accidents in Hawaii
It is true that, once in a while, no one is at fault for a motor vehicle accident, an overwhelming number of serious collisions are caused by the negligent actions of one or both drivers.
If a motor vehicle accident left you with serious injuries and significant medical expenses that equal $5,000 or more or a permanent disability or disfigurement, you may be eligible to pursue compensation from the driver who caused them.
It is important to note that the state of Hawaii abides by no-fault car insurance laws. This means injured parties will have to file a claim with their own insurance company for repayment of their medical costs no matter how the accident happened.
When someone behind the wheel of an object that has the power to kill is distracted, irresponsible, or careless for even a moment, the chances of them killing an innocent victim or leaving a victim with critical injuries are quite high.
Some common forms of negligence that often lead to serious auto crashes include:
- Inattentive drivers, such as those reading text messages and making telephone calls
- Drives who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- Drivers who are aggressive or reckless
- Vehicles that are poorly maintained
- Roadways and intersections that are badly designed
These and numerous other forms of negligence put thousands of innocent people in harm’s way each and every day, including joggers, bicyclists, pedestrians, children, and even other motorists and their passengers.
