Honolulu, HI – Woman Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Collison on Kapule Hwy near Milepost 2.5

Honolulu, HI (September 30, 2023) – Police in Kauai are currently investigating a collision in Lihue that took the life of one woman on Wednesday morning.

Reports show the crash happened just before 5:00 a.m. Police and fire crews were dispatched to the scene near milepost 2.5. Officials report that a woman, age 34, from Kapaa, was operating a box truck headed north on the highway when she collided with a female pedestrian. 

The driver suffered no injuries, however, the pedestrian lost her life at the scene. 

The highway was closed between Ahukini Road and Kuhio Highway for approximately two hours while police investigated the details of the incident. The pedestrian’s identity has not been reported.
