Honolulu, HI – Woman Hospitalized in Collision on Kalanianaole Hwy

April 1, 2024

Honolulu, HI (April 1, 2024) – Following a car crash on Saturday afternoon, Honolulu police blocked a section of Kalanianaole Highway near Waimanalo for around an hour.

At about 4:30 p.m., emergency personnel, police, and firefighters responded to a collision between a compact SUV and a cargo van. The driver of the SUV, a woman in her early 30s, was brought to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition after the van crashed into her car, according to police at the scene. The other driver’s current condition is unknown, however. No further details were provided, but an inquiry is ongoing.

Our thoughts are extended to the injured victims and their loved ones at this time.

Multi-Vehicle Wrecks in Hawaii

Serious multi-vehicle accidents are reported every day in Hawaii. These accidents add up to thousands of people being injured as a result of collisions in our state each year. Many of these accidents are caused by negligence. These accidents can lead to a range of injuries, from herniated or bulging discs, fractures, traumatic brain injuries, and spinal cord injuries to severe burns, paralysis, and amputations. Such injuries’ physical, emotional, and financial toll can be overwhelming.

Adding insult to injury, among the common causes of car accidents in the state are centered around negligence, including fatigue-related incidents, distracted driving, speeding and reckless behavior, tailgating, drunk or impaired driving, and other infractions like running red lights or stop signs and failing to yield the right of way.
