Honolulu, HI (August 4, 2023) – Officials in Honolulu responded to a fatal car accident on Thursday afternoon, August 3rd. The collision was reported at approximately 3:00 p.m. on H-1 Eastbound near the Kaonohi Overpass.

According to officials, multiple vehicles were involved in the H-1 collision. An 81-year-old female and a male, also in his 80s, were treated at the scene by emergency personnel. Both victims were rushed to a local hospital but later succumbed to their injuries. In addition, a 23-year-old male was also treated at the scene. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries. A 34-year-old driver of one of the vehicles refused treatment at the scene.

The 81-year-old female’s car spun around and was broadsided by a third vehicle before coming to rest. There were no additional injuries reported in the crash. The victims have not been identified at this time.

The collision marked the 29th and 30th traffic deaths this year in O’ahu. No further details are available.
