June 20, 2023
Honolulu, HI (June 20, 2023) – A collision in South Kona early on Tuesday, June 20 left a three-year-old with life-threatening injuries. Police say the crash occurred just before 3:30 a.m.
Authorities and paramedics went to the scene on Highway 11 near the 99-mile marker. Police at the scene determined that a 32-year-old woman from Captain Cook was driving a 2003 Honda CR-V when she left the roadway and drove down an embankment before striking a tree and stopping.
Inside the vehicle were her two sons, a three-year-old and a one-year-old infant. Emergency responders transported the female driver and two young passengers to Kona Community Hospital. The driver and one-year-old were said to be in stable condition, while the three-year-old remains in critical condition.
The three-year-old is awaiting medical care at Oahu’s Kapiolani Children’s Hospital. Authorities continue to investigate the details of the accident.
We hope for the full recovery of those with injuries.
Hawaii Car Accidents
Car accidents happen all the time in the state of Hawaii. Each year, tens of thousands of people sustain injuries in these crashes. Unfortunately, people who are hurt in car crashes often have to face long, arduous roads to recovery that include physical injuries and mental trauma, as well as financial problems.
If you or someone you love have been hurt in a car wreck, you could be suffering in several different ways. Depending on the nature and severity of your injuries, you may be stuck in the hospital for weeks or longer after your accident. It can be extremely difficult and overwhelming to be stuck in the hospital, unable to work and make a living or see your loved ones. Your paychecks may be needed to help pay for the costs related to your accident, and, when you are not receiving them, this can place a serious financial burden upon you and your loved ones. As a result, you may be worrying about the costs related to your injuries and damages. The average price of recovering from a serious injury caused by a car accident is in the tens of thousands of dollars in the United States.
Negligent driving is the main reason car crashes happen in the United States today. Driver distraction, speeding, driver intoxication, and fatigue are all extremely common types of driver negligence in Hawaii and across the nation. Negligent drivers cause more than 92% of reported auto collisions throughout the country.
If you believe a negligent driver is responsible for your crash, you may qualify for financial compensation that can help you pay for a long list of damages that may have stemmed from your accident. The costs related to your medical expenses, repairs to your vehicle, lost earnings, and more may be able to be compensated for when you work with a skilled lawyer who can help you file a personal injury claim.
You deserve to be fairly compensated for the losses and damages that you endured related to your crash. Unfortunately, the insurance company may attempt to coerce you into accepting less compensation than you deserve so they can make a profit. However, a car crash lawyer who has your best interests in mind won’t let that happen to you.
