Car Accident Injuries in Hawaii

Honolulu, HI - Three Teens Badly Injured in Rollover Accident on I-H3 Near Halawa

In Hawaii, the most common kind of personal injury claim is one involving a collision between two or more vehicles. Motor vehicle accidents kill and injure more people statewide every year than any other type of accident. Behind these statistics lurks a harsh reality: car accident victims or their surviving family members not only have to deal with the emotional and physical trauma caused by their injuries, but they must also face the almost Herculian task of figuring out how to pay for medical expenses, mitigating income loss, and cope with other economic hurdles relating to their accident.

If you or a family member were injured in a Honolulu motor vehicle accident, the first and most important step is to make sure you understand your rights and know how to defend them.

When a personal injury claim is successful, the victim is entitled to damages, either through a settlement award or jury verdict. The damages available to a car crash victim can include but are not limited to:

  • Current and future medical costs
  • Current and future income loss
  • Diminished or lost earning capacity
  • Pain and suffering
  • Emotional trauma
  • Decreased quality of life
  • Loss of companionship
  • Cosmetic disfigurement
  • Permanent disabilities

These damages can only be obtained if the victim is able to show that a third party’s negligence caused the crash and the damages surpass any applicable economic thresholds.
