Honolulu, HI – Skateboarder Critically Injured in Traffic Accident on Kapiolani Blvd near Kona Iki St

Honolulu, HI (March 18, 2023) – A skateboarder sustained critical injuries when he was hit by a vehicle near the Ala Moana Center on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred just before 2:00 p.m. on March 16. 

Reports show a 35-year-old male riding a skateboard was trying to cross Kapiolani at Kona Iki Street when he was struck by a westbound vehicle. Honolulu police report that the 67-year-old driver sustained no injuries and remained at the scene. 

The skateboarder was transported to the hospital in critical condition. His name has not been reported at this time. 

Police in Honolulu continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
