Honolulu, HI – Six Hurt in Multi-Car Crash on H-1 near Makiki

Honolulu, HI (August 4, 2023) – A multi-car accident in Honolulu left several people injured on Thursday. The crash happened around 10:20 a.m. on the H-1 Freeway near the Makiki area.
The Honolulu Police Department, along with other agencies, responded to the crash scene. According to a report from authorities, a 49-year-old man was traveling eastbound in the right-hand lane of the highway when he struck a second car with four occupants. The second car then collided with a third vehicle that was disabled on the side of the road. The third car was occupied by two motorists.
A total of six people sustained injuries as a result of the accident. Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported all of the victims to a nearby hospital. Two of the victims were listed in critical condition, while two others were reported in serious condition. The two occupants of the third vehicle were transported in good condition.
No one involved in the crash has been identified at this time. It does not appear as though drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident. There is no word on whether any charges are expected to be filed.
