Honolulu, HI – Pedestrian Killed in Collision on Honoapilani Hwy

April 5, 2023

Honolulu, HI (April 5, 2023) – Police in Maui went to the scene of a fatal pedestrian accident on Monday night in Honolulu. Sources say the accident happened in the late evening hours for reasons still being investigated.

Information provided by police say a 42-year-old woman was hit by a 2005 Toyota Tacoma on the Honoapilani Highway. She was fatally injured in the crash and pronounced deceased on-site by medical professionals.

The driver of the Toyota and his passenger stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. Neither of them sustained any injuries in the accident.

At this time, authorities in Honolulu continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.

The highway was shut down while emergency crews worked in the area. Significant traffic delays resulted from the incident.

Our thoughts are with everyone involved. We want to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.

Hawaii Pedestrian Accidents

In the United States, pedestrian crashes are usually caused by drivers who fail to follow traffic signals. When it comes to drivers being distracted, texting and driving is becoming a serious problem in the United States, causing millions of accidents and injuries per year. In 2020, more than 7,000 pedestrians were killed in car accidents. The majority of these collisions were caused by careless and negligent drivers.

Pedestrians are usually more severely injured than others when they become involved in motor vehicle collisions due to the fact that when they travel, they are not protected. More than half the time, pedestrians are severely injured when they are involved in auto accidents.

Pedestrian accidents happen for various reasons. Most of them are the result of the actions of negligent drivers. When you or a loved one suffers injuries in a pedestrian accident, having the help of an experienced and aggressive lawyer in your corner can help ensure that you get full and fair financial compensation for the damages and losses you face in relation to your crash.

Negligent and unlawful driver behaviors place many people in danger in the United States. Especially cyclists and pedestrians. When drivers act careless and inattentive, the likelihood of them causing someone serious or even fatal injuries is, unfortunately, extremely high.

Some examples of negligent actions displayed by drivers that may result in serious accidents include drunk, distracted, or over-tired driving. If you lost a loved one in a pedestrian crash caused by driver negligence, you deserve to be able to focus on the grieving process and the emotional well-being of your family without worrying about money.
