Honolulu, HI – Motorcyclist Hospitalized After Accident on H2 Fwy in Mililani

December 28, 2024

Honolulu, HI (December 28, 2024) – Honolulu police officials are investigating a motor vehicle crash on the southbound lanes of the H2 Freeway in Mililani near the Leilehua Golf Course overpass on Saturday afternoon.

Shortly before 4:30 p.m., Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded to a motorcycle accident involving a motorcycle. According to the Honolulu Police Department, paramedics treated the motorcyclist for multiple traumatic injuries and transported him to a trauma hospital in critical condition.

The driver and his passengers were uninjured and remained at the scene. However, MPD officers asked witnesses to get in touch as they launched an inquiry into the cause of the accident.

Our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their families.

Motorcycle Accidents in Hawaii

Motorcyclists are rendered entirely unprotected and exposed in the event of an accident with another vehicle, which renders motorcycle riding extremely hazardous. The repercussions of a low-speed, relatively insignificant collision between a car and a motorcycle can be catastrophic for all riders. Adding insult to injury, most of the common causes of these incidents can be traced back to driver negligence, including but not limited to:

  • Impairment: Drivers who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol are most likely to lose control of their vehicles. These drivers may not be able to recognize colors or traffic control devices.
  • Driver distraction: There are so many accidents that take place on our roadways as a result of drivers simply not paying attention to the road ahead. Common distractions that lead to accidents in our state include cell phones, food, and even talking to passengers.
  • Aggressive driving: When drivers become aggressive while behind the wheel, they are likely to cause accidents that severely harm others. We see many accidents take place as a result of drivers who zip between lanes of travel, tailgating other vehicles, and are reckless while operating their cars.
