Honolulu, HI – Man Killed in Moped Accident on Kapiolani Blvd at Mahukona St

Honolulu, HI (November 28, 2024) – According to officers with the Honolulu Police Department (HPD), a man has died after a moped accident took place on Wednesday.

Per authorities, a male moped rider who has yet to be identified was traveling eastbound on Kapiolani Boulevard when a 31-year-old female driver broadsided him. The driver was traveling westbound on Kapiolani Boulevard when she attempted to make a left turn onto Mahukona Street.

The collision ejected the moped rider onto the road. He was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Afterward, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Meanwhile, the 31-year-old driver remained at the scene and was not injured from the collision. However, local law enforcement authorities are investigating the crash, and the HPD is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Traffic Division.
