Honolulu, HI – Man Hospitalized After Car Crash on Ward Ave at Beretania St

Honolulu, HI (March 7, 2025) – The Honolulu Police Department and local firefighters were called to the scene of a crash after an 81-year-old man was critically injured on Ward Avenue on Tuesday afternoon, March 4.
The crash occurred at around 4:00 p.m. near the Beretania Street intersection. Honolulu police said that a 32-year-old man was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Ward Avenue and South Beretania Street. An 81-year-old man was in the crosswalk of Ward Avenue and fell on the ground and out of sight of the driver of the vehicle, officers said, just before the driver struck him.
According to the Emergency Medical Services, the man was hit by a vehicle and suffered life-threatening injuries. He was taken to the emergency room in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and was not injured. The investigation is ongoing, and speed, drugs, or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash. However, witnesses were asked to get in touch with local law enforcement officials.
