Hawaii Car Crashes

In 2021, the Hawaii Department of Transportation reported that 94 accidents resulted in 94 traffic-related deaths on Hawaii’s roadways. These numbers fell from the 108 fatalities reported in 2019, but they rose from 2020, which saw a total of 85 traffic-related deaths. However, traffic fatalities throughout the nation have continued to rise. The main reason traffic-accident fatalities occurred in Hawaii in 2021 were drunk driving, speeding, and distracted driving. Preliminary data indicate that the trend was still there at the beginning of 2022, with most of the 16 deaths happening in January.
