January 30, 2023

Honolulu, HI (January 30, 2023) – A woman from Oahu was arrested on charges of negligent homicide after she caused a fatal accident while driving drunk. The collision happened in the Punchbowl area on Saturday morning.

A man identified as Elmer Milikini, age 59, lost his life in the accident.

Police say the woman, age 35, was driving at unsafe speeds in a silver Acura SUV headed east on Iolani Avenue when she came up behind a tan Toyota SUV. The 59-year-old male driver was pronounced deceased on-site by medical professionals. The woman was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant and first-degree negligent homicide. Her name has not been reported.

Authorities in Honolulu continue to investigate the details of the crash.

We would like to offer our condolences to the family of Elmer Milikini at this time.

Hawaii Car Accidents

Sustaining injuries in a car crash is never easy. Perhaps the only thing that may be more difficult than getting hurt in a car accident is having this happen to someone you love. When a beloved family member of yours loses their life in an auto accident, you may be feeling totally overwhelmed and devastated. Car crashes are unexpected, tragic events that can affect entire families for prolonged periods of time.

In Hawaii, the majority of car crashes that happen are the result of negligent driving. Intoxication, distraction, speeding, and fatigue are the four main types of driver negligence that lead to almost 100% of reported car crashes in the United States each year. Drunk driving is a major issue in Hawaii and throughout the United States, injuring and taking the lives of thousands of people every single year. When someone you love has lost their life due to the actions of a negligent driver, you need to speak with a lawyer right away.

A wrongful death attorney in Honolulu can help you file a claim for compensation to help pay for the expenses that stem from your loved one’s accident. You may be struggling to pay for outstanding medical bills, funeral and burial costs, and more. An attorney can help negotiate a full and fair settlement from the insurance company for you.

You deserve to be able to focus on your family during this difficult time in your life. You should not have to worry about money. An auto accident attorney can help you pay for the costs related to the crash so you can worry about what’s really important.
