Honolulu, HI – Bicyclist Killed in Traffic Accident on N Nimitz Hwy near Kalihi

Honolulu, HI (April 26, 2023) – A bicyclist was killed after they were hit by a car in Kalihi on Tuesday night, April 25. Information provided by Honolulu police shows the incident occurred at around 9:40 p.m. 

Authorities and paramedics responded to the scene located on the North Nimitz Highway in the area of Kalihi. Police stated a 20-year-old male traveling west onto the North Nimitz Highway from the H-1 Freeway off-ramp collided with a bicyclist, age 58, headed east on the highway. 

Police say the bicyclist was thrown onto the pavement, where he sustained severe and fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased on-site. Police are currently investigating whether negligence played a factor in the cause of the crash.
