Hawaii Pedestrian Crashes

Pedestrian accidents are some of the most dangerous types of crashes that occur in the United States and throughout the state of Hawaii. Each year, around 6,000 people lose their lives in pedestrian accidents across the country. These crashes happen for a multitude of different reasons, however, the most common reason they occur is driver negligence.

Over the past decade, driver negligence has become a serious issue in the United States. The majority of auto collisions are caused by the actions of negligent drivers. Several different types of driver negligence exist, including distraction, fatigue, intoxication, and speeding. The most prevalent type is driver distraction which causes over 400,000 collisions per year and about 3,000 deaths.

Additionally, speeding causes over 11,000 fatalities annually, while driver fatigue results in about 100,000 collisions per year. It is extremely important for drivers to remain alert, aware, awake, and sober while behind the wheel. Drivers who fail to do this put themselves at serious risk of injuries and even fatalities, as well as those around them.
