September 12, 2023

Honolulu, HI (September 12, 2023) – A serious crash involving a bicyclist and a vehicle occurred in Poipu on Thursday, September 7. At approximately 6:35 a.m., emergency responders went to the accident scene to help those involved.

When they arrived at the scene on Ho’one Road, they found a bicyclist, identified as a 70-year-old man, with critical injuries who had been hit by a vehicle. Preliminary reports how the man was headed south on Nalo Road when he attempted to turn right onto Ho’one just before he was involved in a crash with a Toyota Tacoma.

Police are investigating the details of the incident. The road was closed while emergency responders worked in the area, forcing local drivers to use alternate routes.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim in hopes of a full recovery.

Hawaii Vehicle Crashes

Car accidents occur daily in the state of Hawaii. Tens of thousands of individuals are hurt in these crashes per year, while hundreds end up losing their lives. Those who end up with injuries due to auto accidents often face problematic issues afterward. Not only are these injuries painful and difficult to deal with, but they can also cause financial burdens related to the cost of medical care and being forced to miss work due to the recovery process.

If you or someone you love were recently hurt in a collision, you may even have suffered psychological trauma. Depending on the nature and severity of your injuries, you may be stuck in the hospital for days or weeks where you have to go through medical care that can be painful and exhausting. You may even be unable to go back to work, which could put a serious strain on your finances. Consequently, you may be concerned about the costs associated with your accident. A severe car accident injury can, on average, cost between $10,000 and $50,000.

Unfortunately, according to statistics, the increasing number of road accidents in the US is caused by driver negligence. Speeding, distraction, and intoxication are the three leading types of driver negligence demonstrated by Americans today, causing millions of injuries and taking thousands of lives each year. In fact, nine out of ten automobile collisions are caused by careless drivers in the United States. These facts point to the high probability that your collision was caused by the actions of a negligent driver.

If you believe your collision was caused by the actions of a negligent driver, you should contact an attorney who can help you recover. When you file a claim for personal injury with an attorney, you may be able to receive monetary compensation for your medical bills, vehicle repairs, lost wages, and other damages.
