Honolulu, HI – Bethany Stucker Identified in Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Kam Hwy
January 5, 2025
Honolulu, HI (January 5, 2025) – The Honolulu Police Department and the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office have identified the 21-year-old woman who died Thursday in a motorcycle crash as Bethany Stucker of Kailua.
Stucker was a passenger on a motorcycle operated by a 22-year-old man who also received serious injuries in the Kaaawa crash.
The motorcycle was headed south on Kamehameha Highway when it struck an SUV driven by a 31-year-old woman, who was making a left turn from Makua Village Road onto Kamehameha Highway, police said. The motorcyclist and his passenger were ejected onto the roadway, police confirmed.
Both were wearing helmets, and both were initially taken in serious condition to the hospital, police said. The woman later died from her injuries at the hospital. The SUV driver and her 33-year-old passenger remained at the scene and were not injured. The investigation remains active and ongoing; however, witnesses were asked to come forward as soon as possible.
We extend our deepest condolences to Bethany Stucker’s family. Our thoughts are also with the injured victims in hopes of their full recovery.
Motorcycle Accidents in Hawaii
Unfortunately, motorcyclists are nearly entirely unprotected and exposed in the event of an accident with another vehicle (typically a car), which makes motorcycle riding extremely dangerous. The repercussions of a collision between a car and a motorcycle can be catastrophic for all riders.
Adding insult to injury, most of the common causes of these incidents can be traced back to driver negligence, including but not limited to drivers who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, drivers who are simply not paying attention to the road ahead, or motorists who drive aggressively.
