Hawaii Auto Accidents
Each day in the United States, more than 17,000 car accidents are reported. These collisions cause injuries for over 7,500 people and end the lives of more than 100 individuals daily. Yearly, the country sees roughly 6 million car crashes that injure over 3 million people and cut short the lives of approximately 40,000.
In Hawaii, a reported 10,000 car accidents take place per year or around 30 per day. Auto collisions have become a leading cause of fatalities in America due to driver negligence. In the past decade, driver distraction has become the most common type of driver negligence seen in the US, causing hundreds of thousands of yearly accidents.
Vehicle malfunctions, dangerous road conditions, and driver error are the most common reasons car crashes happen in the United States and throughout the state of Hawaii. However, negligent driving is the most prevalent cause, causing more than 92% of reported auto collisions each year. Drivers who choose to pay attention to their phones or anything other than the roadway while behind the wheel risk their own lives and put those around them at risk of severe injuries or even death every time they divert their attention from the road.
