Aiea, HI (September 15, 2022) – A passenger sustained fatal injuries during a crash on Kamehameha Highway in Aiea, on Wednesday, September 14th.

The collision took place at about 2:00 p.m. on the eastbound side of the highway, near Runner’s Hi and McGrew Loop.

Investigators stated that a 78-year-old man driving a Honda swerved toward the center median and crashed into a concrete rail transit pillar.

When Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene, they discovered that the driver had sustained serious injuries. His passenger, a 78-year-old woman, was in critical condition.

Both patients were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Once there, the woman’s condition began to decline and she eventually passed away.

This is the 36th fatal accident in Oahu in 2022.
