Aiea, HI – Moped Crash on Hwy near Salt Lake Blvd Injures Two

Aiea, HI-(January 25, 2023) At approximately 12:45 pm. on January 24, 2023, a moped and a car collided in the area of Kamehameha Highway and Salt Lake Boulevard in Aiea.
Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene of the accident.
The Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section received a report that a vehicle motorist was traveling southbound on Salt Lake Boulevard, attempting to turn left onto Kamehameha Highway, and was in a wreck.
As the motorist made the turn onto Kamehameha Highway, he collided with a moped operator identified as a male and his passenger, another male. The moped was traveling onto the highway at the same time.
As a result of the collision, both riders on the moped were instantly ejected onto the roadway.
The riders of the moped suffered injuries and were rushed to the hospital by an emergency medical service vehicle. The current medical conditions of the riders are unknown.
The other driver involved in the accident was not reported to have sustained injuries. His current condition is also unknown.
Neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appears to have contributed to the collision at this time. Police are continuing to further their investigation of the crash.
